High tide was at 10.26am so had to get down to the beach for the morning session. The wind was cross-off shore and was forecast 25mph.

I'd never sailed here before but had been here quite a few times so I knew the place quite well by now. I parked on the Bluff car park and carried my kit past the lifeguard hut and down over the rocks. They said Hi as I went past.

There was one guy sailing quite high up in the estuary but I set up to sail in the Estausy mouth.

Went for the Mistral Flow, my small board (113L) and Arrows Trixx 6.4m.

Had a superb time blasting across towards Carbis Bay over the mouth of the estuary. It was very flat for this location but there were some small nicely spaced waves.

I was nicely powered for for some time but later became over powered. Could have done with changing down to my 5.3 but the tide was on the way out so I stuck with it. I was also a bit cautious as I hadn't sailed here before and I was the only one out there.

Tried some more carve gybes and made some dry, not the best technique though so more work needed. Got in some faster tacks too.

Just as I came in I noticed the guy sailing further up the estuary was ending up down at the mouth and the life guards seemed to be taking an interest in exaclty how far he was going. he didn't seem able to go upwind. But he just stopped and waited for the tide to drop and I guess he had a long walk back.

Then another guy turned up with a JP wave board and Arrows impact 5.3m and went out to try and catch some waves. As already mentioned it was pretty flat today so he soon ran back to his van saying he was gonna try Godrevy instead. Sure to ave been some decent waves up by Gwithian I guess.

Anyway that one ambition achieved, I'd always wanted to sail the Bluff and now I have and spectacular scenery so 5 stars for me!

May be back tommorrow as 15mph forecast.
